I saw something this week, that was kind of upsetting. Some Canadian channel had the nerve to re-make my most favorite movie of all time:
Anne of Green Gables. I watched the trailer, and I was NOT impressed.
I read the book series by Lucy Maud Montgomery as a kid, and the movies
made in the 80s with Megan Follows as Anne and Jonathan Crombie as
Gilbert, will never be matched in their perfection. It was perfectly
cast, the acting was amazing, and I could go on for days about just how
much love I have for those films. Gilbert was my first love, and Anne is
one of my favorite fictional characters of all time; in fact, I gave my 2nd
daughter the middle name Anne (which had to be spelled with an e).

Anne & Matthew's bond is so touching and wonderful! |
 |
The dynamic between Anne, Diana & Gilbert really make the story one of the best ever! |
 |
Anne & Marilla got off to a rough start, but develop such a beautiful relationship! |

Who didn't want a guy like Gilbert, and a relationship like he and Anne had. Love it! |
I will admit,
Anne of Green Gables: The Continuing Story, that came out in 2000 was a bit of a disappointment. I mean,
Anne of Avonlea departed from the books quite a bit, but still stayed true to the characters and for the most part kept the same story-line. The movie in 2000 was all wrong: wrong time period, not even close to anything from the book, and it just didn't feel like the originals. I did appreciate them getting the same main actors, but it's not in the realm of greatness of the earlier films.
I am way excited to share my love of Anne with my kids, especially my daughters. I need to finish unpacking my books, so I can share the magic of the Anne of Green Gables with my oldest daughter soon. Now I'm in the mood for an
Anne of Green Gables movie marathon! Have a great weekend!
