For almost 2 years, our family has been functioning in survival mode. This is the beginning of a brand new year: I'm ready to move beyond just surviving, and want our family to experience real growth and progression again. I can do this! I am the wife and mother, and I can help create a home where our family can truly flourish and prosper in all aspects of life. Ready? Go!
I started this blog, so I have a place to sort out and write down my thoughts each day. I also want to share ideas and experiences along the way with others who are interested in saving, budgeting, motherhood, and other areas of life I'm passionate about.
Goals for this year are simple, yet if implemented I believe they will be life-changing. Here is my plan:
Spiritual Goals:
Family - Daily Scriptures, Daily Prayer, & Weekly Family Home Evening. Consistency is the key!
Personal - Daily Scriptures, Daily Prayer, Fulfill Callings, & Attend Temple Regularly.
Financial Goals:
More Consistency in Following a Set Budget - this will help us save more to achieve our goals!
Fully Fund our Retirement Accounts - we must be prepared for the future!
Save Enough to Pay Cash to Landscape our Yard - pay as you go is the best way!
Start to Make Extra Payments on the House - see how fast we can pay off our last remaining debt!
Getting our House in Order:
Finish Unpacking & Organizing the House - room by room, closet by closet, this will take time.
Plan Weekly Menus - this will help keep the food budget under, and mealtime less stressful.
More Consistent Routines - especially mealtimes, and bedtimes.
Emergency Preparedness - make sure our 72-hour kits are completed, and work on food storage.
Relationship Goals:
Marriage Relationship - Date Nights, Lunch Dates, Read Books Together, No Contention
Family Relationships - No Yelling or Fighting, Eat Meals Together & Talk, Work & Play Together
Physical Goals:
Exercise More Consistently, Eat More Healthy Foods, Go on Family Bike Rides, Go to the Dentist
These are some things I believe will help us this year. I have other small things I want to do this year that I will write down for myself. It seems like a lot, but we are doing or working on many of these things already. I know this year can be amazing!
My last thought has to do with looking ahead, not back. I feel like I looked back and focused on things I couldn't control this past year. I refuse to let the things of the past get me down. It's a new day "with no mistakes in it" as Anne of Green Gables so eloquently stated. Here we go 2016!
