Snowy Saturday: Cheap Fun at Home

It was a snowy Saturday today, so we stayed at home. We spent part of the day cleaning the house to get ready for Sunday, but some of the day was also spent having fun as a family. Here are some ideas of ways to have a great time as a family at home on a snowy day, without having to spend money!

- Bundle up in snow clothes, and head out to play in the snow! Build a snowman, make snow angels, or go sledding.

- Warm up by drinking hot cocoa; my kids love this on a cold day!

- Snuggle up and read books either together or alone. There's nothing better on a cold, wet day!

- Play board games. There are so many fun games for all ages, and you are guaranteed some laughs!

- Make popcorn and watch movies. It's fun to get out some older movies you haven't seen for a while.

- Make your own restaurant-style food. You can fry up some chicken nuggets and fries for the kids, grill hamburgers and hot dogs inside, make homemade pizza, or whip up some easy Chinese food. My kids also like playing restaurant, by asking what you want then making you a plate.

- Just play! Let the kids enjoy not having anywhere to go, and they will come up with some very creative things to pretend. As a parent, observing their creativity is one of my favorite things to do!

Have a happy, snowy day!
