Motivational Monday: One Step at a Time

It's now the 11th day of a new year, and most people have probably broken some of their New Year's resolutions. This year, I have decided to take a different approach to how I implement goals. Instead of trying to start everything on January 1, I'm slowly starting goals week by week. The first week, I started this new blog and also resolved to do better at things like daily scripture study and prayer. This week, I've started my weekly menu and made sure dinner has been ready by the time my husband gets home from work. Next week, I plan to start working out again (now that I'm finally getting over being sick). Talking to my husband at the first of the year, he told me he thinks resolutions just once a year is pointless; he said we should constantly be evaluating and starting things to make us better. I agree! I get very discouraged when I try to start tons of resolutions, then I "fail" at them all the first month...or week...or day. It's easier for me to start one thing and make it a habit, then I can move on to the next thing. Hopefully this approach will help me have a successful and fulfilling year!

I saw this quote from Mark Twain and really liked what he said. I tend to get really overwhelmed when faced with big projects, but I know if I can just break them down into smaller tasks it won't seem as difficult. I'm going to try and use this philosophy more; I think it will really help with organizing my house!
I also like this thought. One goal at a time. One step at a time. I know I can do this!
I'm ready for a fabulous new year! I especially needed some motivation this Monday, when I was up a lot in the night with a teething baby. I think we sometimes forget to cut ourselves some slack when we have kids (especially babies) that take up the majority of our time and energy. Sometimes it's hard to get motivated when you haven't slept in days, weeks, or months. Just remember you can get started, break it down, and take one step at a time!
